.Position SummaryBristol Myers Squibb is a global biopharmaceutical
company engaged in the discovery of new therapeutic drugs for the
treatment of immunological and inflammatory diseases. We have an
opening at our facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts for a co-op to
perform laboratory work critical to our early discovery activities
in the Immunology and Cardiovascular Thematic Research Center
(TRC). The position is for a highly motivated individual with a
strong work ethic and an interest in gaining experience in primary
human and mouse immune cell culture and assay development in the
Discovery Immunology department to support early discovery
proof-of-concept studies & novel cellular re-engineering approaches
to auto-immune disorders.Key Responsibilities
- Culture primary and transfected cell lines
- Isolate various primary cells from human whole blood
- Perform primary cell culture experiments including live cell
imaging assessments and flow cytometry-based measurements
- Conduct in vitro cell-based assays to compare & rank various
lipid nanoparticle formulations and mRNA payloads
- Assess various targets for cell-specific lipid nanoparticle
uptake and transfection
- Assist with processing in vivo mouse tissue samples
- Data analysis, critical thinking, and assay design
- Analyze and report experimental findings and present work at
team meetings
- Additional technical opportunities are possible depending on
project needsQualifications & Experience
- Enrollment in University Bachelor's degree or post-grad
Master's degree program studying relevant scientific discipline
with at least three to four (3-4) years of cell biology and/or
molecular biology course work
- Minimum three (3) semesters of laboratory course work
- Prior relevant work experience required, preferably in
mammalian tissue culture
- Flow cytometry experience recommended, not required
- Strong academic record (--- 3.0 GPA)
- Able to commit to continuous full-time employment from
January-June
- Able to work independently as well as in a multi-discipline
team environment
- Able to appropriately plan & manage time and schedule
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
