Senior Software Process Engineer

Job Description:

Working under the direction of the Trainer, Senior Team Lead 3, will be

responsible for working with an internal community of cross-functional

development teams to improve their processes and products and prepare

them for external audits against industry standards such as ISO, DO, and

SPICE; developing software development processes, concepts, practices

and tools used at MathWorks and within the industry, with a special

focus on industry-wide quality standards (e.g. ISO, DO, SPICE); managing

the quality assurance program at MathWorks, including performing process

assurance audits, and continuously improving the overall QA program;

establishing a fully functioning internal quality assurance program,

including process and conformity audits, and contributing to the

continuous improvement of software development processes; working with

senior leaders to identify issues and opportunities related to software

development processes; developing clear and well-scoped problem

statements, and driving related projects to completion; facilitating

organizational adoption of new standards and best practices through

thoughtful change management strategies; reporting to senior staff on

progress against business drivers; supporting the Development

organization’s growth and learning around quality assurance, including

producing self-serve resources and instructor-led training events; and

evaluating impact with Kirkpatrick Level 1-4 evaluations.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or higher (or foreign education equivalent) in

Engineering, Computer Science or Physics and two (2) years of experience

in job offered or two (2) years of experience designing and leading

quality assurance or process engineering programs for web-based

technologies according to ISO, DO or SPICE standards.

OR

Bachelor’s degree (willing to accept foreign education equivalent as

well as three-year foreign bachelor’s degree) in Engineering, Computer

Science or Physics and six (6) years of experience in job offered or six

(6) years of experience designing and leading quality assurance or

process engineering programs for web-based technologies according to

ISO, DO or SPICE standards.

Special Requirements:

• Demonstrated expertise designing quality assurance standards or

process engineering protocols for web application development and

testing throughout the SDLC for compliance with ISO, DO or SPICE

standards; and designing software testing compliance protocols for

quality assurance verification and validation including validation of

technical artifacts, for compliance with ISO, DO or SPICE standards.

• Demonstrated expertise serving in a technology lead role or

delivering customer-facing support and trainings within an IT

development or services environment; and leading cross-matrixed onshore-

offshore software test teams.

• Demonstrated expertise in the SDLC process, and implementing

quality control measures to improve product and process efficiencies

through feedback from customers and internal/external IT auditors,

including providing recurring management status reporting.

• Demonstrated expertise applying Lean concepts and Six Sigma

methodologies to implement process improvement initiatives that improve

product quality; and performing quality audits for compliance with CMMI

Level 5 standards.
